DIRECTIONS TO THE RIVER
Driving on curvy mountain roads can take up to twice as long as normal travel time and mileages can be deceptive.Make sure all members of the group have a copy of these directions and that they follow them closely. We do not recommend the use of GPS devices or online mapping sites, as they are often not accurate on our mountain roads. Please give us a call if you are lost or running late.
NANTAHALA RIVER: our outpost is located in the Nantahala Gorge, overlooking the Nantahala River. It is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the beauty of western North Carolina.
OCOEE RIVER: To help keep driving time to a minimum, we provide transportation to the Ocoee from our Nantahala Outpost on all our full-day Ocoee Trips. If it is more convenient for you to come straight to the Ocoee, we are happy to accommodate your arrival at the river put-in. There are two separate put-ins, one for the Upper Ocoee and one for the Middle Ocoee. Make sure you have the correct put in..
CHEOAH RIVER: Just forty minutes from the Nantahala Gorge, even the drive to the Cheoah is beautiful. If it is more convenient for you to meeet us at the river, or if you will be joining us for an afternoon trip follow the Cheoah put-in directions.
Specific River Restrictions
We are permitted by the U.S. Forest Service and must follow the guidlines set out in their operating plans.
