Kayaking is about good technique and confidence. We will help you improve and that mean more fun on the river! Time spent with us reflects on your commitment to becoming a better boater--regardless of your skill level.
Continuity and Progress
We use progresive techniques to improve your rolling, playing as a mechanism to improve boat control, and river running to improve your overall skills. Our teaching evolves as the sport changes, but we never lose sight of the importance of a solid foundation.
The flexibility in our program allows paddlers at all levels to gain from time on the river with us. And the quality of gear means you are using only the best equipment for your time on the river.
Depending on your needs, you will find one of our instruction options best suited for your learning needs:
- Private instruction - for individual groups up to four
- Workshops - group instruction for intro kayaking, rolling, rescue and speciality courses. Workshop are perfect for custom groups with clubs, universities, scouting and special events.
- Kids Instruction - we are known for our talent for working with young padders!
- Women-specific Instruction - it is nice to have the option of a female perspective on boating. All you have to do is ask!
- Instruction includes all the equipment needed to get out on the river. And we feature Wave Sport boats in our instruction program.

Experienced instructors, international guides, professional kayakers, you will be impressed by the depth of experience found in our hand-picked group of instructors.
We share in each others wealth of teaching experience; and as devoted kayakers, each instructor is in tune with the need to continually be pushing our own skills so that we will be better boaters and instructors.
And there is no “off season”, during the winter you may find your same instructor guiding in Ecuador and Costa Rica.
Western North Carolina is the Epicenter for Whitewater
The rivers we have here in western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee are what make this area the epicenter for whitewater paddling and instruction. The rivers you will paddle during your instruction are determined by you and your instructor. If you have a targeted run you want to become competent on, let your instructor know. And allow flexibility so that your goals can help determine where you will paddle during your instruction.
Regardless, you will finish up your instruction time full of confidence and ready to have fun on the river!
