Nineteen years ago Miguel and Ken met by chance.
Miguel had just purchased his first van, Ken was just putting together his first trips, a business card was passed on to Ken by a mutual acquaintance….and Miguel, his family and his “yes-I-can” Toyota vans have been an integral part of our trips ever since.
One of the first impressions our friends have when they join us for a Costa Rica trip is the feeling of being welcome into Miguel’s house. Starting our trips at Miguels’ home for boat outfitting, we have all shared glimpses into his life.
We have watched his children grow up and many of our repeat guests received a wake-up call last year when his oldest son, Fabian, returned from college last year and teamed up with his dad as the second driver; many remembering when what seemed like not that long ago Fabian was just a little guy helping his dad load boats on Sunday mornings. And now we have give him the same trust we share with Miguel driving us safely around the country.
One of the many reasons to return to Costa Rica with Endless River Adventures might be the incredible rivers, comfortable lodging, witty river guides, but most important–Miguel and Fabian. Traveling can be a frustrating challenge here in Costa Rica, but Miguel and Fabian take that frustration away and allow us to sit back and enjoy the incredible scenery to & from the rivers. At the end of an awesome day on the river, it sure is good to know that two of the best guides in Costa Rica are always waiting for us at the take out!

Thanks for the great post about Miguel and Fabian!
It was fun sharing last week with both of them – and everyone else on our trip.
Nancy and I returned home to 3″ of new snow and afternoon temps of 20 degrees (F, not C).
After seeing Miguel cope with what was it 4? flat tires in two days and a malfunctioning security system that started one of his vans on fire I am convinced it is Miguel not the vans that is “yes-I-can”
