Group and Private Whitewater Kayaking Instruction
Whether you are interested in an introduction to the sport of whitewater kayaking or you’re taking your paddling skills to the next level with playboating, river rescue, or creeking, we offer instruction to suit every level of paddler, from beginner to advanced.
Our classroom includes the amazing rivers of the southeast, including the Nantahala River, the Ocoee River, the Tuckasegee River, and so many more depending on the time of year and water levels, as well as nearby beautiful lakes.
Private Instruction
With private instruction, it is like having your own personal coach.
Private instruction is designed to fit your schedule, your goals and your budget. You can schedule private instruction from a day to a full week, and/or multiple times a year. The rivers we use include (but are not limited to) the Nantahala River, the Ocoee River, the Tuckasegee, Chattooga, and many others!
Group Instruction and Progression Series
We have created a series of group instruction weekends that include Coed Step Up Skills Weekends, Boat Based Rescue Classes, Roll Workshop, Creating Your Own Challenge Moves,and Nantahala & Ocoee Challenge Days and Women’s Progressions. If dates do not work, put together a like-minded group for custom instruction.
Women's Progression Series
We like to celebrate women and their accomplishments, which is why we are happy to introduce our new Women’s Progression Series. Designed to help you feel empowered, push your goals, and expand your network of other cool women who like to kayak the same rivers as you. We are creating an environment that is empowering, nonjudgemental and fun. Our first two series are only the beginning!
Kids Instruction
Our kids kayaking programs have earned a reputation for combining fun with skill development. Our Kids Our camp options include our annual week-long kids camp, as well as weekend camps throughout the summer; with everything from our learn-to-kayak camps to advanced camps on the Ocoee. We can also do custom family days for a family that wants to learn together!
Besides professionally trained kayak instructors, we provide:
ALL GEAR and EQUIPMENT you will need for the day. In addition to the five essentials needed to kayak (boat, sprayskirt, PFD, paddle & helmet) we also offer wetsuits and paddle jackets to assure your comfort on the water. The only items you will need are a pair of nose clips and shoes (sandals, water socks, etc.), as well as water and lunch to keep your energy going for the day.
TRANSPORTATION of you, your instructor and all your equipment is included in the price of instruction. With private instruction, we offer a mileage discount to those who come equipped with a shuttle – ready vehicle. With private instruction, we can also meet you at a specific river if it saves travel time (this does not apply to beginning instruction).
Rivers are both classrooms where we teach, and where we go to have fun!

We offer kayak instruction year round, seven days a week. Full day and half-day options are available. Call us at 828-488-6199 or reserve your trip specifics today. Please call with any questions you may have regarding instruction, as well as to reserve the dates that are best for you.
Special Group rates and custom day itineraries are available. If you are the planner for special group, please call us for assistance with the logistics of your trip planning.
Payment Policy:
We ask that all reservations be paid in advance. Full payment is due 14 days before the trip. Payment may be made by check or credit card. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.
Cancellation:
Our instruction courses go rain or shine! Cancellations more than 14 days in advance receive a 100% refund. Any reservation cancelled less than 14 days before the trip is ineligible for a refund.
